Styling chair with footrest for the salon

Some treatments take time, such as coloring, perming or a long styling session, and that is when it matters that the client sits comfortably throughout. A styling chair with a footrest gives the client somewhere to rest their legs instead of keeping them suspended or pressed against the floor for half an hour or more. We have 15 models in this collection, all from Takara Belmont, with either an integrated or removable footrest.

Guide: How to choose the right styling chair with a footrest

Here is what you should consider before choosing.

1. When does a footrest make sense?

A footrest is most valuable when a treatment takes a long time, such as coloring, perming or balayage, where the client would otherwise sit still for half an hour to an hour. If your salon mainly offers short 20-30-minute haircuts, the benefit is smaller, but many salons still choose a footrest as standard because it makes the experience more comfortable regardless of the treatment type. If you often have older clients or clients who find it difficult to keep their legs in a fixed position, a footrest genuinely makes a difference to how well they can relax during the treatment.

2. Fixed or removable footrest

Some of our models have a fixed, integrated footrest, while others have a removable version that you can take off when it is not needed. A fixed footrest requires no extra handling in a busy daily routine, but takes up slightly more visual space around the chair. A removable model allows you to put it away between clients if you prefer a more minimalist look in the salon or if space around the chair is limited. Check the individual product page to see which solution the specific model has.

3. Pump and adjustment

All the chairs in this collection have a pump function, so you can adjust the seat height with a pedal without having to lift or twist yourself to help the client up or down. Some models, such as Shiki, are available with a chrome pump as an extra finish, while others have a more discreet black version. The adjustment range is the same regardless of the pump finish, so this choice is primarily about how you want the chair to look in your salon, not about its function.

4. Cross base or round base

Like our other styling chairs, these models are available with either a cross base or a round base. A cross base with wheels makes it easy to turn the chair towards or away from the mirror, while a round base creates a calm, stationary look without movement. Some models, such as Shiki, are available in both versions, so you can choose what best suits the layout of your station and whether you want the chair to swivel freely.

5. Material and color

The upholstery is vegan leather, which is durable and easy to keep clean between clients, even with daily disinfection. The models are available in several colors, from classic black to bolder shades such as red, green and cognac, so you can choose a chair that matches the rest of your salon’s interior. Darker colors are more forgiving of hair-color stains, while lighter and more colorful choices give the station a stronger personal touch.

Popular models with a footrest

Shiki is the most flexible model in the collection, with a choice of chrome or black pump and either a cross base or round base, and is available in cognac, black and green. Harp is the model available in the most colors, from black and cognac orange to pink and light brown, always with a chrome cross base. Adria II is a more understated choice in red, green and black, also with a chrome cross base. All three models are produced by Takara Belmont.

The brand behind the collection

All styling chairs with footrests in this collection are from Takara Belmont, the same brand behind several of our most exclusive styling chairs without footrests. If you prefer another brand, you can view our full selection of styling chairs, or browse the rest of our brand overview if you are unsure what best suits your salon.

Other ways to give clients a place to rest their legs

If you already have a styling chair without a footrest but would like to offer the same comfort to selected clients, you can instead choose a freestanding footrest to place beside the chair. We also have a wider selection of footrests in general if you are looking for a solution that is not built into the chair itself.

Frequently asked questions about styling chairs with footrests

What is the difference between a regular styling chair and one with a footrest?

Functionally, it is the same type of chair, a styling chair with a pump function that your client sits in during the treatment. The difference is that a model with a footrest has an additional place to rest the legs, either as a fixed, integrated part of the chair or as a removable addition. This does not affect the seat height, pump function or upholstery; it is simply an extra comfort feature that you can choose or leave out depending on how long your treatments typically are and whether your clients appreciate the additional support.

Is the footrest removable on all models?

No, it varies from model to model. Some of the chairs in this collection have a fixed, integrated footrest, while others have a removable version that you can take off and put back on as needed. The individual product page always states which solution the specific model has, so you can compare before choosing. If you are unsure about a particular model, you are welcome to contact us, and we will help you find the right one.

Which hairdressers benefit most from a footrest?

Salons with many long treatments, such as coloring, perming or balayage, typically benefit most from a footrest because the client would otherwise sit still for half an hour to an hour without being able to rest their legs properly. The same applies if you often have older clients or clients with reduced mobility, where the extra support makes it more comfortable to sit still throughout the treatment. If your salon mainly offers short haircuts, the need is smaller, but many salons still choose it as a standard feature for the entire station.

How do I clean the footrest?

The footrest is upholstered in the same vegan leather as the rest of the chair, making it easy to wipe down and disinfect between clients, just like the seat and backrest. Darker colors, such as black, are more forgiving of hair-color stains, while lighter shades require a little more attention when cleaning. Avoid harsh cleaning products that can break down the material over time, and instead use a mild soap solution or a product designed for faux leather, so the chair stays looking good for many years.

Can I visit the showroom and see the chairs before ordering?

Yes, you are always welcome at our showroom at Mariendalsvej 32 in Viborg, where you can sit in the chairs and experience the footrest, pump function and upholstery before deciding. It is especially worthwhile if you are unsure whether a fixed or removable footrest best suits your salon. If you are unable to visit, you can always contact us, and we will help you based on your needs and available space.
