Looking for a Welonda styling chair or washing unit for your salon?

Here you can bring your whole salon together in one look: styling chairs from the Retro, Belluna, Vida and Violet ranges, washing systems from compact to modular, workstations, a reception desk and a footrest. The furniture is made in the Netherlands and assembled in the colour and finish you choose. Just Add People has sold Welonda for more than 30 years and is an official dealer with exclusive distribution rights in selected countries, including Denmark.

Guide: How to choose the right Welonda furniture

Welonda covers the whole salon, and one wrong choice can affect the rest. Go through these six points before you order.

1. Start with your salon's areas

Welonda covers four areas: the workstation with a styling chair and workstation, the washing area, the welcome area with a reception desk, and small details such as the footrest. Sketch out your salon and work out how many workstations and washing stations you need. This determines both the range and the quantity. If you start with just the chair, you often end up with a washing unit that doesn't match the rest of the colours and style, so you'll either have to live with mismatched furniture or replace it later. Choose from the same range from the start, and your salon will look cohesive.

2. Choose a styling chair to suit your style and space

Welonda styling chairs differ most in their look and size. Ask yourself what style your salon has and how much space there is between workstations. A salon with a vintage feel and plenty of room calls for something different from a small, bright solo salon. Try sitting in the chair in the showroom, if you can. You only notice the shape of the seat and the height of the armrests once you sit down, and your clients will be sitting in it every day. See the individual ranges further down the page.

3. Check the round base and floor space

The styling chairs here have a chrome round base with a diameter of 48 cm on the Belluna, Vida and Violet, and 55 cm on the Retro. The round base takes up floor space. Seven centimetres may not sound like much, but it matters when two chairs are side by side. Measure the distance between workstations, and make sure your client can turn around and get out of the chair without bumping into the next workstation. Welonda's round bases come with a hydraulic pump, so you can adjust the height for both you and your client.

4. Choose a wash system to suit your space and needs

The wash system is the largest piece of furniture and the one used most often, so choose carefully. If you have a small salon, a compact system with a tilting basin is often enough. If you have the space and many color clients, a modular system with drawers and several stations can save you a lot of back and forth. Also consider how long your clients usually sit at the wash station and whether you want an adjustable leg rest. Consider the water supply and drainage before choosing a location, so you don't have to move anything later.

5. Upholstery, color and finish

Welonda offers 33 fabrics and 26 laminates, giving you the chance to create your salon's look. The most popular models are available in five upholstery colors in the webshop: Black, Dark Brown, Brown, Smoke and Beige. If you'd like a different color or finish, contact Just Add People to find the right option. Dark upholstery hides stains and everyday wear better than light upholstery, so think about how many color clients you have. If you choose an option outside the standard range, the furniture is made especially for you, which affects the delivery time.

6. Budget and overall look

Prices range from the compact Violet styling chair and Welondamat wash unit to the modular Bio Wash system, so you can start small and expand later. Stick to the same range for the furniture customers see first, such as the styling chair and reception desk, and save on the parts customers don't see. If you're furnishing a brand-new salon, browse the complete starter kits or ask Klaus Østergaard to help put it all together.

Welonda Retro styling chair

Retro is for you if you love vintage design. Welonda describes the chair as beautifully finished in a vintage 1970s design. It is available here with a 55 cm chrome round base and in five upholstery colors. It suits salons where the styling chair is part of the look, not just a work tool. Browse the full range of styling chairs.

Welonda Belluna styling chair and wash system

Belluna is an elegant styling chair that Welonda designed to pair with the other products in the Belluna range. The range includes both styling chairs with a 48 cm chrome round base and Belluna washing systems. The washing system has a white basin, white panel, and adjustable leg rest, so you can keep your styling and washing areas in the same style. See all washing units to compare with other options.

Welonda Vida styling chair

According to Welonda, Vida is an elegant combination of curved forms and ergonomic design. It’s available with a fixed backrest and a 48 cm chrome round base, in the same five upholstery colors as the rest of the range. The matching washing unit is called Lift Vida and has a white basin and white frame. Choose Vida for both the chair and washing unit to create a consistent look throughout your styling and washing areas.

Welonda Lift washing system

Lift Belluna has a deep white ceramic basin with a single-lever mixer tap and a drip-free hand shower. The basin tilts, the neck rest is made of rubber, and the frame is made of epoxy-coated metal. The seat has an adjustable backrest. Lift Vida and Lift Belluna Relax are available in the same range, here with a white basin and white frame in all five upholstery colors. It’s a great choice if you want your client to sit comfortably and be able to adjust the basin to the right position.

Welonda Violet styling chair for smaller salons

Welonda describes Violet as the perfect chair for smaller salons, easy on the eyes without compromising on quality. It has a fixed backrest, a chrome arm frame with padded armrests, and a chrome round base measuring 48 cm. Violet is the most affordable option among the styling chairs and is a great fit if you’re opening your first salon or have limited floor space to work with.

Welondamat washing system for smaller salons

Welondamat is Welonda’s practical solution for smaller salons. The column is made of black or silver-colored metal with side panels in stainless steel, and the basin is ceramic with a single-lever mixer tap. The basin tilts, and the rubber neck rest adds extra comfort during washing. It is available with a black basin and black frame or a white basin and silver-colored frame. It’s an obvious choice when space is limited.

Welonda Bio Wash and Bio Desk

Bio Wash is a modular backwash system that starts as a two-station unit and can be expanded to as many stations as you need. The drawers hold towels, foil, shampoo and conditioner, and close softly and open with a light push from your elbow or knee. The basin tilts and comes with a hand shower, and the system can be equipped with an electrically adjustable leg rest or shiatsu massage. Bio Desk is the reception desk in the same range, shown here with Sonoma Eiche wood and a white top. You can see more options under reception desks.

Welonda workstations: Serena and Academy

The workstation is the furniture behind the chair, where your tools and products are kept. Serena is available here as a double workstation with either white or black cabinets and an Artisan Oak shelf without LED lighting. Academy is a double workstation in stainless steel. Both are listed under workstations, where you can compare them with other models.

Welonda wall-mounted Footrest

ProViel is a wall-mounted stainless steel footrest. It is installed on the wall beneath the mirror or workstation, keeping it off the floor and making it easier to clean under the chair. If you prefer a freestanding option, take a look at the other footrests. A footrest may be a small piece of furniture, but it makes a big difference to your client’s comfort and your own posture, so choose it at the same time as your chair, not afterwards.

Welonda and Kiela come from the same Dutch manufacturer

Kiela manufactures all of Welonda’s furniture. Kiela has been family-owned since 1939, and practically everything is done in-house, from bending the frames to the final stitch in the upholstery. Welonda has been around for over 60 years and makes its furniture at its own facilities in the Netherlands. Just Add People has sold Welonda for more than 30 years, long before the brand became an official supplier. See more Dutch and European brands under all brands.

Frequently asked questions about Welonda

How long is the delivery time for Welonda furniture?

The delivery time is 4-6 weeks, just like with Kiela. The furniture is made to order, so the lead time depends on the upholstery colors, finishes and special features you choose. The more specific the combination, the longer production takes. If you’re planning a new salon, order the furniture well in advance so it doesn’t delay the opening. If you have a set opening date, you can write to Just Add People, so you can work backward together from the day the salon needs to be ready. It’s a good idea to allow some extra time in case the contractors also need to finish before the furniture arrives.

Can I get colors other than the ones available on the webshop?

Yes. The most popular models on our webshop are available in five upholstery colors, but Welonda offers 33 fabrics and 26 laminates to choose from. Contact Just Add People and tell them about your salon’s style, so you can find the right combination together. It’s a good idea to see samples in the showroom, because upholstery looks different on screen than it does in daylight. Keep in mind that furniture in a color outside the standard range is made especially for you, which can affect both the price and delivery time.

How do I choose a backwash unit when space is limited?

First, measure the area where the wash unit will go and mark where the water supply and drain are. Then choose a compact system if you have few wash stations and limited floor space. If you have more color clients, it may be worth planning for a modular system from the start, since it can be expanded later. Also consider whether clients need to sit comfortably for longer periods. This is especially important for color treatments and scalp massages, when the wash unit is used for more than a quick rinse. If you’re unsure about the space, Klaus Østergaard can help you assess it based on your measurements.

How long is the warranty on Welonda products?

Just Add People offers at least a 2-year warranty on furniture and equipment, and Welonda states that components have a warranty of up to 5 years. The two warranties are not the same, so feel free to ask exactly what’s covered on the model you’re considering before you order. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, not damage caused by improper use or normal wear and tear. If you have a problem, you can fill out the claims form or contact Just Add People directly. Keep your order confirmation so you can easily provide proof of purchase if a fault occurs.

Can I return a Welonda chair if it doesn’t fit?

Just Add People is always happy to talk things through and will do its best to find a solution, but made-to-order items and custom products are excluded from the general returns policy. Since Welonda furniture is made to order, it’s important to be sure before you place your order. Try a chair in the showroom and confirm the colors and measurements first. The full policy is set out in the terms and conditions, and you can always get in touch for an answer specific to your situation. This is especially important for color, upholstery and finish, as those are the choices that make a piece of furniture your own.

Can I combine Welonda with furniture from other brands?

Yes. Many salons combine a Welonda styling chair with mirrors and lighting from other manufacturers, as long as the colors and materials work well together. Browse mirrors and hairdresser lighting, and bear in mind that finishes like chrome, stainless steel and wood are also used throughout the Welonda range. If you choose different brands, it’s a good idea to see the furniture together in the showroom, so you can see how it all works in real life, not just on screen. Many people choose the same range for the styling chair and wash unit, then mix and match the rest, since those are the two pieces of furniture the client sits in.
